ABOUT

For Christ sent me not to baptize but to preach the Gospel, not with wisdom of words, lest the Cross of Christ should be made of none effect. For the preaching of the Cross is to them who perish foolishness, but unto us who are Saved it is the Power of God.
1 Corinthians 1:17-18

OUR CHURCH

Calvary Chapel Northfield is a church that experiences the Presence of God in the Worship, Preaching, Teaching, Prayer and Altar Ministry on an ongoing basis. We are thankful and blessed to have the Presence of the Lord in our midst. We are a dedicated group of believers who love God, their families, their communities, and one another. Our personal relationship with God is the most important part of each of our lives. We gather together as a body of believers to worship, pray, learn, and grow in God. We follow and obey Him as He instructs us to share His love and grace with others who are lost and searching. We believe in sharing a clear Gospel Message for salvation to the unbeliever. We put great importance on lifting up the Name of Jesus for all the world to see.

Calvary Chapel Northfield preaches and teaches the Bible which is God's Holy Word to mankind. We teach that not only is the Bible the story of Jesus Christ, but much of it is instructional for the believer on how to live successfully in this life for God. We believe that upon faith in Jesus Christ and the finished work that He accomplished on Calvary's Cross, a person comes into the Kingdom of God and becomes one of His children. This is the foundation of our Faith. Gospel of Life teaches each believer how he can live an overcoming life and have ongoing victory over sin and life problems on a daily basis through our relationship with God and a process called Sanctification. We focus on the finished work of Christ at the Cross as our Victory—laying down our issues in life, and receiving the benefits and promises that He died to give us.

Hebrews 10:24–25

"How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying."

"He Touched Me"

William J. Gaither wrote a song many years ago.  This song has been a long- time favorite of ours and countless others.  The first verse says, “Shackled by a heavy burden beneath a load of guilt and shame, then the hand of Jesus touched me and now I am no longer the same." The second verse of the Song says, “Since I met this blessed Savior, since He cleansed and made me whole, I will never cease to praise Him, I’ll shout it while eternity rolls”.  How wonderfully the Lord Jesus has touched so many of us.  Jesus Christ came to the Earth to save mankind and to set the captives free. He came to bring life and life more abundantly.  For the ones whom He sets free, there is an eternal gratitude. They have a constant Praise on their lips toward Him.  The Chorus of the song “He Touched Me” says, “He touched me, oh He touched me, and oh the joy that floods my soul, something happened and now I know, He touched me and made me whole”.

Something supernatural happens in the spirit of man when we accept and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and His perfect sacrifice on the Cross, His burial and His resurrection. We become a “New Creation” inside and out.  Everything changes and we are different. This “New Life” is available to anyone who will believe in the sacrifice Jesus made on the Cross of Calvary and who will ask Jesus to come into their life.

Jesus Christ will unshackle any and all prisoners who are in turmoil in this life.  I know this to be a fact on a personal level.  About forty years ago I was struggling in my own life and I desperately needed help.  I didn’t know where to turn.  Some friends told me about God.  They told me that if I would believe that Jesus Christ died on the Cross for my sins and welcome Him into my Life, I would be given the peace of God that surpasses all understanding. God brought me out of darkness and into His marvelous Light.  He cleansed me and made me whole.  He totally and completely changed my life. God continues to change me daily as I put my Faith in Him. I was struggling in life and needed help.  God rescued me and set this captive free. He will do it for anyone who calls upon His Name.

"For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures"
1 Corinthians 15:3,4

"And this is the record, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that has the Son has life: and he that has not the Son of God has not"
1 John 5:11,12
